Distinguish a conditioned response from an unconditional response?

I am an American, I hear the word "Muslim,' my conditioned response is to feel negativity and possibly even hatred. My unconditioned response is to seek understanding and find out the truth about Islam to undo the conditioned response taught to me over the years by the ignorant media and corrupt politicians.
