What is a good car book for someone with no car knowledge?

I have no car knowledge whatsoever. I'm trying to look for a car book that tells me basic mechanics (not necessarily to buy a car or to make car repairs), and most importantly a car book that will go over popular makes of cars, famous models of cars, being able to recognize one car from another. I want to be able to distinguish cars on the road as well as if I get a car repair - actually be able to decipher what the car mechanic is referring to when he tells me things he repaired.
